What are you worth?
Show me the money!
What are you worth? Launching next week….
I started The Culture Ministry because working in Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) can be lonely, and progress can be slow. There is a lot to do in this space and there is a lot to learn.
In the last couple of years (and post BLM) there has been a huge increase in demand for D&I professionals with experienced candidates being hard to find. It’s clear this is an emerging specialist field in Asia Pacific.
I recently went on a mission to see what data is out there on what D&I people get paid. I can tell you there’s very little. As with much of D&I work, there is data in the Uniited States and Europe, but not much in the Asia Pacific Region.
Mercer has a report but only for the US market (costing USD 800) and I found this website But as we know, often the US experience does not translate to countrties in Asia Pacific.
So what is available here?
I didn’t find anything from any of the large consultancies that specialise in remuneration and benefits. Glassdoor has basically nothing and I’m never sure whether this data can actually be relied upon. Indeed has some better samples but still….
Many recruitment companies like Hays, Michael Page and Robert Walters produce salary reports based on roles they have placed, but these are very general and usually don’t include Diversity & Inclusion roles.
So what to do? Well I built a survey. As you do. And I’m super excited to let you know it’s launching next week.
This survey seeks to understand how Diversity & Inclusion professionals are paid at different levels across the region, as well as understanding:
Role size and scope,
Budget availability for Diversity & Inclusion work,
Leadership support for Diversity & Inclusion actions,
Skills needed to be successful in progressing diversity & inclusion work, and
Challenges and priorities for the next 12 months
Over time this annual survey will capture the unique skills and contribution that Diversity & Inclusion professionals make in organisations and differentiate salaries and benefits for niche capabilities.
Why should you participate?
Apart from understanding “am I being paid enough?” or “what is my value in the market?” The insights from the survey will help you understand:
Do I have budget to do the work we need to do?
What are other organisations doing that is making a difference?
How important is leadership support?
What team size should I have to be effective?
Am I being left behind?
The survey is launching on 14th February, powered by Volt International. We can’t wait for your contribution.

Need to brush up on your disability knowledge?
Last time I wrote about why celebrating Australia Day is not a great idea. But what is worth celebrating is this year’s Australian of the year. Dylan is an incredible sportsman and a great person.
Singer, actress and author Lynn Julian Crisci, has experienced multiple disabilities in her lifetime, all of which began in her adulthood. Here she shares what we need to know.
She’s smart, articulate and attractive. She’s a writer and content creator, and a model. She’s an educator and advocate for people with disabilities, having acquired physical and invisible disabilities herself. Love this podcast episode!
